WVU Tech competes in exhibition at NCAA DI Marshall

HUNTINGTON, West Virginia -- WVU Tech men's basketball dropped a 99-81 decision at NCAA DI Marshall University during an exhibition contest Sunday afternoon. Senior Elisha Boone led the way for the Gold and Blue and Marshall, finishing with a double-double effort of 27 points and 12 rebounds.

Junior Thomas Collins, sophomore Junior Arrey and senior Michael Scott also finished with double digits, producing 15, 12 and ten points respectively. Arrey also pulled down five boards while Collins and Scott had four rebounds each.

Collins led the game with four steals while Boone had three towards Tech's 11 total. Arrey dished five assists and Boone had three for WVU Tech.

As a team, Tech finished 31-for-74 (41.9 percent) from the field while grabbing 46 rebounds. The Thundering Herd went 31-for-65 (47.7 percent) and had 44 rebounds.

The Golden Bears held the advantage over Marshall in points off turnovers (21-19), second chance points (19-8), points in the paint (52-20) and fast break points (8-2).

Tech will start their regular season Wednesday, November 1 when they host Glenville State College at 7:30 p.m. in the Golden Bears' new home venue, the Beckley Raleigh County Convention Center.
