Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Tech wins fourth consecutive, stays undefeated in RSC play

Women's Soccer

BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech women's soccer earned their fourth back-to-back victory after defeating River States Conference (RSC) opponent Indiana University East, 3-1, Thursday evening in Beckley, West Virginia. The Golden Bears stay undefeated in conference play, 3-0, while boosting their overall record to 8-4. The Red Wolves now hold a record of 4-5-4, 0-1-1 (RSC) in 2017.

Freshman Johanna Ribacke had another standout game, producing a goal and an assist for the Gold and Blue. Ribacke scored a quick unassisted goal in the fourth minute while assisting sophomore Clarice Taylor who scored in the 13th minute. Ribacke, a native of Tome, Sweden, now has four goals and three assists this season.

Tech's final goal was scored by freshman Meghan Rugel off the assist from senior Olivia Mantohbang. Rugel, who was named the RSC Offensive Player of the Week for play last week, also has four goals so far during this campaign.

Senior goalkeeper Martha Reyna (8-4) picked up another win in goal, stopping three Red Wolves balls in the process.

As a team, the Golden Bears finished with 12 shots on frame including two each from Rugel, Ribacke and freshmen Patricia Fisher and Meghan Goldman.

Tech will look to continue this momentum on Saturday as they play host to Ohio Christian University for more RSC action. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
