DUBOIS, Pennsylvania -- The WVU Tech wrestlers finished with two victories in duals Saturday after defeating the host school, Penn State Du Bois, 36-15 and Kent State University Tuscarawas 28-18. The two contests kicked of the 2017-18 season of duals and the Golden Bears are now 2-0.
Seniors
Tristan Bean (133 lbs.) and
Corey Palmer (174 lbs.) scored the two falls for the Gold and Blue Saturday. Bean defeated Kent State's Justin Rodriguez while Palmer took down PSU Du Bois' Logan Gilbert.
Also scoring points by bout for Tech were seniors
Paul Gonzales (125 lbs.) and
Bryan Overton (174 lbs.) and sophomore
Leland Swafford (157 lbs.).
Gonzales defeated Kent State's Zion Clark by a 12-3 major decision while Swafford (6-0) and Overton (8-7) both won by decision over their respective KSUT opponents.
The Golden Bears will return to action this Saturday, November 18 when they travel to Ohio Valley University for a 1 p.m. dual.
