BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech was trailing 35-32 at the half before mounting an overtime comeback, 71-69, over Mount Vernon Nazarene University Tuesday evening. The Golden Bears boost their record to 2-1 in 2017 while the Cougars suffer their first loss of the season and move to 2-1.
The Gold and Blue were led by junior
Thomas Collins and sophomore
Charles King who finished with 16 points each. The duo also pulled down eight boards and had two steals each.
Also hitting double-digits for Tech were senior
Michael Scott and sophomore
Nequan Carrington, both posting 11 points. Scott finished with a double-double effort with 12 boards while Carrington marked seven rebounds.
Senior
Cole Schoolcraft helped handle the ball, dishing a game-best six assists and out of Tech's nine blocks, Carrington stopped six Cougar attempts.
Mount Vernon Nazarene finished 25-for-59 (42.4 percent) from the field while Tech was 27-for-69 (39.1 percent).
The Golden Bears complete their four-game home stand Saturday, November 11 when they host Kentucky Christian University in the Beckley Raleigh Convention Center.
