BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech men's basketball, who received votes in the second regular-season NAIA DII Coaches' Top 25 Poll Tuesday, stayed undefeated (3-0) in River States Conference (RSC) play after taking an 83-64 win over Ohio Christian University. The Golden Bears boost their overall record to 8-3 while the Trailblazers move to 3-8, 0-2 (RSC).
The team had a balanced attack including a career-high 20 points from sophomore
Dominik King. Senior
Michael Scott and freshman
Tamon Scruggs poured in 15 points each while junior
Brent Daniels marked ten points.
Scott and Daniels led the team with eight boards while Scruggs pulled down seven boards. Junior
Cole Schoolcraft dished a game-best eight assists to go with eight points.
As a team, Tech shot 26-for-60 (43.3 percent) from the field while holding the Trailblazers to 24-for-68 (35.3 percent). The Golden Bears also held the advantage in rebounds, 48-37.
The Gold and Blue are currently on top in the East Division of the conference with No. 3 (NAIA DII) Indiana University East (2-0), Tech's next opponent, in second place.
WVU Tech currently (as of December 12) hold five top-20 rankings in the nation (NAIA DII) including No. 1 in offensive rebounds per game (17.100) and total rebounds per game (47.200), No. 4 in total rebound margin (12.000), No. 16 in three-point field goal defense (0.312) and No. 17 in defensive rebounds per game (30.100).
