Golden Bears drop road RSC game at No. 20 IU East

RICHMOND, Indiana -- WVU Tech women's basketball dropped a River States Conference (RSC) game to No. 20 Indiana University East Saturday afternoon, 90-72. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 16-11, 8-7 (RSC) this season while the Red Wolves move to 24-5, 15-1 (RSC).

Tech saw three double-digit scorers including a standout performance from sophomore Alexandra Combs. Combs finished with a team-high 21 points (8-for-15), pulled down a team-best six rebounds, grabbed a game-best six steals and blocked three Red Wolves' balls.

Fellow classmate Savannah Shamblin poured in 16 points while junior Zjhane West had ten points. Shamblin also had three assists and three rebounds while West had five rebounds, three assists and three steals.

The team was held to just 38.2 percent (29-for-76) shooting from the field and 35.3 percent (6-for-17) from beyond the arc. IU East shot 48.5 percent (32-for-66) from the floor and 47.6 percent (10-for-21) from three-point range.

The Gold and Blue will take a break from conference play when they travel to Bluefield State Tuesday, February 14 for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
