BLUEFIELD, West Virginia -- WVU Tech women's basketball halted a four-game skid with a 65-50 victory at Bluefield State College Tuesday evening. The Golden Bears now have an overall record of 17-11 this season while the Blues are 1-21.
Tech had three shooters finish with three made from beyond the arc including sophomores
Savannah Shamblin and
Alexandra Combs and senior
Keymonisha Dudley. Shamblin poured in a team-high 16 points while Combs had 12 points and Dudley had nine.
Junior
Zjhane West and freshman
Laura Requena pulled down a team-best nine boards each to go with four and six points respectively. Freshman
Logan Dudley and junior
Melissa Bakowski had seven rebounds each towards a team total 50. Bakowski also had seven points in the win.
Senior Amber Linville had three rebounds and two points in 14 minutes of play.
Bluefield State's Tanasia Blake led the game with a double-double effort of 22 points and 16 rebounds.
The Gold and Blue held their opponent to 25.4 percent (15-for-59) shooting from the field and 13.0 percent (3-for-23) from three-point range. Tech finished 32.8 percent (22-for-67) from the floor and 40.0 percent (10-for-25) from beyond the arc.
The Golden Bears will finish out the regular season with River States Conference (RSC) games at home when they play host to Carlow University Friday (6 p.m.) followed by Point Park University Saturday (1 p.m.) for Senior Day.
