WVU Tech rolls past Carlow for RSC win

Men's basketball

MONTGOMERY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech men's basketball had seven Golden Bears score in double-digits and the team defeated Carlow University, 139-72, in River States Conference (RSC) play Friday evening in the Baisi Athletic Center. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 21-7, 13-3 (RSC) while the Celtics fall to 5-24, 4-12 (RSC).

The team will complete regular season play tomorrow, Saturday in Montgomery, West Virginia when they host Point Park University for Senior Day. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. The Gold and Blue will celebrate seniors Ra'Shaud Kincaid, Hunter Moles and Patrick Gnagbo.

Junior Ryan Atkins finished 7-for-9 from the field including a 5-for-5 effort from three-point range towards his game-best 23 points. Atkins was also perfect at the bonus line, 4-for-4, while pulling down seven boards, dishing seven assists and grabbing two steals.

Freshman Brent Daniels had a career-game, pouring in 20 points on 7-for-10 shooting. Daniels also marked a 4-for-6 effort from beyond the arc while recording four rebounds.

Freshman Junior Arrey produced 19 points while juniors Kievonn Banks (15), Michael Scott (14), Elisha Boone (13) and Cole Schoolcraft (10) rounded out Tech's top offensive contributors. Banks finished with a double-double including a game-high ten rebounds.

The team had a sufficient shooting night, finishing 62.7 percent (47-for-75) from the floor, 67.9 percent (19-for-28) from three-point range and 66.7 percent (26-for-39) from the foul line. Tech held their opponent to just 37.7 percent (23-for-61) shooting from the field. The Gold and Blue also outrebounded the Celtics, 56-19.
