MOUNT VERNON, Georgia -- WVU Tech (1-1) baseball won their season opener 13-3 at Brewton-Parker College against the host school before falling in the night cap, 5-0, to (RV) Southeastern University.
The games marked the beginning of a four-game road series in Mount Vernon, Georgia where the Golden Bears face the Barons and the Fire in two nine-inning games each over Friday and Saturday.
Junior
Chris Davidson pitched a complete game including four strike outs against the Barons to pick up his first win on the mound and fellow classmate
Wyatt Belinda knocked a home run and marked four hits, three runs and two RBI to help highlight Tech's victory.

The Gold and Blue had a standout game at the plate, totaling 13 runs on 11 hits and 11 RBI.

Marcus Rodriguez led the squad with two RBI each. Belinda crossed the plate a game-high three times while seniors

Jayson Sykora had two runs each.

Brady Groesbeck and Belinda recorded doubles in the win while senior
Tanner Levine grabbed a stolen base.
Davidson (1-0) drew the season start on the mound, pitching a complete game including four strike outs, four hits, two walks and two earned runs after facing 26 Barons at bat.

Tech was held to just four hits after ten strike outs from the Fire's pitching staff in the final game of the day's loss.
Groesbeck, Belinda, Gomez Herrera and senior
Doug Prather had a hit each while Davidson recorded a stolen base after pinch running for catcher Gomez Herrera.
Southeastern saw pitching from four Golden Bears including senior
Jarron Monroe (1.1 innings) and juniors
Dalton Grisell (0.2 innings),
Jerod Jobst (3.0 innings) and
Garrison Vandeventer (1.0 innings).
Vandeventer posted the only strike out in the loss while Jobst gave up four earned runs and Grisell gave up the final earned run.
The team will complete the four-game road series tomorrow, Saturday when they face Brewton-Parker and Southeastern for one more nine-inning game each.
