Tech takes 11 straight after 90-68 win over Rio Grande

MONTGOMERY, West Virginia -- No. 22 WVU Tech men's basketball is enjoying an 11-game winning streak after defeating University of Rio Grande in River States Conference (RSC) action Saturday afternoon. The Golden Bears boost their record to 20-5, 12-1 (RSC) while the RedStorm fall to 11-15, 6-7 (RSC).

The Gold and Blue still maintain the top spot in the East Division of the conference while Rio Grande is six games back at No. 4. No. 7 IU East is No. 2 in the division with a RSC record of 11-3.

Junior Ryan Atkins finished 11-for-14 from the bonus line towards his team-high 20 points while grabbing five rebounds, dishing five assists, marking a block and grabbing two steals.

Junior Michael Scott poured in 19 points on 8-for-10 shooting from the field to go with four rebounds and an assist. Fellow classmate Elisha Boone produced a double-double effort of a game-best 12 boards and scoring 11 points. Boone also had five assists in the win.

Freshman Junior Arrey also hit double-digits with 14 points on 6-for-10 shooting to go with two assists. Junior Kievonn Banks made a difference under the basket with six rebounds.

The team shot 50.8 percent from the floor while holding the RedStorm to 35.7 percent. Tech also held the advantage in rebounds, 43-33.

 WVU Tech will continue conference play when they hit the road to face Ohio Christian University Tuesday, February 7.
