WVU Tech softball downed twice at King

BRISTOL, Tennessee -- WVU Tech softball dropped a doubleheader at King University Thursday afternoon. The Golden Bears (0-9) lost game one 9-4 before falling in the night cap 25-0 (five innings) to King University in Bristol, Tennessee.

The Golden Bears totaled eight hits including two each from sophomore Skylar Connelly, senior Genna Trippett and junior Hannah Calhoun.

Trippett knocked her first home run of the season and 25th career-long ball while Connelly and Calhoun had a double each.

Trippett had one RBI while junior Kayla Harbin had the other Tech RBI. The runs were scored by Connelly, freshman Ashley Daniels, Trippett and senior Lexi Huck.

On the bases, Connelly marked a steal in the loss.

After 3.0 innings of work, freshman Karina Atanacio (0-4) scattered 11 hits and nine earned runs for the loss.

Tech managed four hits in the night cap including a perfect 2-for-2 effort from Daniels.

Sophomore Sarah Dohn and senior Mackenzie Wilson had a hit each while Daniels and Wilson both had a double.

Wilson (0-4) threw from the circle for 0.2 innings for the loss, recording one strikeout, six hits and three earned runs.

The Gold and Blue will next travel to Florida for the PFX Games. Tech will begin play on Sunday, March 5 when they face Calumet College of St. Joseph at 11:30 a.m.
