Two Reimold home runs lift Tech past Rio Grande

VA Memorial Stadium | Chillicothe, Ohio | May 8, 2017

CHILLICOTHE, West Virginia -- The River States Conference (RSC) Freshman of the Year, WVU Tech's Jacob Reimold, hit two home runs towards four RBI to help Tech rally back for an 8-6 win over University of Rio Grande in an elimination game of the RSC Tournament.

Tech trailed by as much as 5-1 after four innings before rallying back for the eventual 8-6 victory. The winning run came off a two-run long ball by Reimold that drove in junior Abraham Alejandro. Alejandro was pinch running for fellow junior Wyatt Belinda who reached on a walk.

Reimold finished 3-for-5 at the dish with two home runs, four RBI and two runs scored to lead the team.

Seniors Doug Prather, Trevor Lam and Chris Davidson also had multi-hit games, marking two each. Prather posted a triple, two runs scored and a RBI while Davidson recorded a double and drove a run in. Belinda also had a RBI for the Gold and Blue.

On the bases, seniors Alex Kotheimer, Roland Eusebio and RSC Player of the Year, Tanner Levine, had a steal each.

Redshirt junior Garrison Vandeventer earned the W on the bump after 1.1 innings of relief work. Vandeventer struck out one RedStorm while giving up zero hits and zero runs.

Junior Jerod Jobst recorded the save, pitching the final two outs of the contest.

Senior Jayson Sykora drew the start, putting in 4.0 innings of work towards four strike outs while scattering four hits and one earned run.

Fellow senior Marcus Rodriguez (2.2 innings) struck out three batters while giving up two hits and no earned runs.

The Golden Bears (30-27) advance to play tomorrow, Tuesday at 11 a.m., with their opponent to be determined. Rio Grande, the 2015 and 2016 conference champions, end their season with a record of 34-19-1.
