CHICAGO, Illinois -- The No. 5 WVU Tech (0-1) men's soccer squad dropped their season opener to No. 14 Spring Arbor University (2-0) Saturday afternoon, 4-2.
Senior
Francisco Neto and freshman
Manuel Segarra produced the two Golden Bear goals. Neto struck in the 40
th minute off the assist of sophomore
Carlos Tormo.
Segarra found the back of the net in minute 52 after a perfect pass from fellow classmate
Sergio Sanchez who marked the assist.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Jorge Martinez (0-1) finished with five saves and four goals allowed after 90 minutes of defending the net.
The team finished with eleven shots (six on goal) compared to their opponent's 14 (nine on goal). The Gold and Blue did hold the advantage in corner kicks, 6-2.
The team will continue play in Chicago on Monday, August 28 when they face Taylor University at 12 p.m.
