BECKLEY, West Virginia -- No. 5 WVU Tech men's soccer fell to Marygrove College 1-0 Saturday afternoon at the YMCA Paul Cline Memorial Youth Sports Complex. The Golden Bears move to 0-2-1 in 2017 while the Mustangs boost their record to 2-1.
The Mustangs found the back of the net when Christian Wimmer connected with Andriy Pelekh off a corner kick. Pelekh was credited with the goal and Wimmer the assist in minute 45.
The Gold and Blue managed eight shots on goal including two each from junior
Matias Pazos and sophomore
Eduardo Gutierrez.
Freshman goalkeeper
Lewis Everett (0-1-1) earned seven saves after a complete game for Tech.
Marygrove's keeper, Ruggero Vizello, posted eight saves and a shutout after 88:56 of play.
The team returns to the field next Saturday, September 9 when they host No. 11 Bryan College in Beckley, West Virginia.
