BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech men's soccer celebrated its seniors and earned an 8-0 River States Conference (RSC) shut out victory Saturday afternoon in Beckley, West Virginia. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 11-1-4, 5-1-1 while the Trailblazers move to 4-10, 1-5 (RSC).
Tech honored
Diego Dranuta,
Santiago Cruz,
Murray Kinnaird and
William Adarkwah. In the win, Dranuta recorded his first collegiate goal off an assist from junior
Jesus Naves in the seventh minute.
Freshman
Jaime Rodriguez ended the game with two goals (41' and 47'), getting assisted by Adarkwah and
Pablo Muniz Rocandio.
Naves posted his first score in the second minute, assisted by junior
Eduardo Gutierrez and freshman
Aloysius Laurie. His second goal was in the 14
th minute off an assist from Gutierrez.
Kinnaird off the assistance from Naves recorded his goal in minute 31.
Laurie had the final Tech goal of the game off a free kick in the 62
nd minute. The eighth goal credited to Tech was an Ohio Christian own goal.
Junior keeper
Jose Domingo Xam-mar was awarded the win defending the goal, making one stop in 90 minutes of play.
The team will return to the pitch October 25 when they travel to Midway University for more conference action.
