WVU Tech ends regular season with shutout at Asbury

Men's Soccer

WILMORE, Kentucky -- WVU Tech men's soccer finished the regular season with a 4-0 shutout victory at River States Conference (RSC) opponent Asbury University Saturday. The Golden Bears will move on to the River States Conference Tournament with a record of 13-1-4, 7-1-1 (RSC) while the Eagles move on at 5-3-1, 9-7-1 (RSC).

Freshman Jaime Rodriguez posted back-to-back goals in the win, assisted by Jesus Naves (53') then followed just 20 seconds later unassisted. The Madrid, Spain native also recorded an assist in the W, sending the perfect pass to junior Sergio Sanchez in minute 27.

The first goal of the game came from Naves who connected with Eduardo Gutierrez in the first half, during minute 16.

As a team, Tech finished with seven shots on frame including four from Rodriguez.

Junior Jose Domingo Xam-mar protected the net for 90 minutes, making three saves in the shutout victory. Asbury's keeper, Trey Millers, was forced to stop two Golden Bear attempts while allowing four goals.

Tech will host a semifinal of the tournament on November 7 in Beckley, West Virginia at the YMCA Paul Cline Memorial Complex. Stay tuned to goldenbearathletics.com for the opponent and time.
