BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech volleyball earned a huge River States Conference (RSC) victory over Indiana University East Saturday afternoon. The Golden Bears boost their record to 26-8, 9-5 (RSC) while the Red Wolves move to 22-7, 11-3 (RSC).
IU East is currently No. 1 in the RSC East while Tech holds at No. 3, 2.0 matches back. Point Park University (16-11, 9-4 RSC) is No. 2 at 1.5 matches back. The Gold and Blue will travel to Point Park Friday, November 2 for a 2 p.m. match-up.
Tech combined for 41 kills including a match-best 12 from junior
Katelyn Byrd. Fellow junior
Konstantina Pateli posted eight kills, also handling the ball for the Golden Bears, dishing out 29 assists to go with ten digs.
Junior
Emily Kidd finished with seven kills towards a .545 hitting percentage while recording three block solos. Senior
Ana Monteiro and junior
Carolina Bologna had five kills each.
Sophomore libero
Sawyer Hawgood marked the match-high of 17 digs while producing five assists in the win.
Monteiro posted 13 digs while freshman
Michaella Guyot-Polverini had four. Guyot-Polverini also recorded two service aces and an assist.
After Point Park, the team will continue play in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and finish the regular season at Carlow University Saturday, November 3.
