BECKLEY, West Virginia -- (RV) WVU Tech men's soccer defeated Brescia University in River States Conference (RSC) play 5-0 Thursday evening in Beckley. The Golden Bears are still undefeated and now hold a record of 10-0-4, 4-0-1 (RSC) while the Bearcats move to 5-6-1, 2-2-1 (RSC).
Junior
Manuel Garcia had a standout game, recording two goals (7' and 89') and two assists (19' and 25') after six shots, three on frame.
Fellow junior
Eduardo Gutierrez posted Tech's second goal in the 19
th minute while junior
Jesus Naves (25') and senior
Murray Kinnaird (45') also had first half goals.
Kinnaird's score came off the assist of senior
Sergio Sanchez while Gutierrez assisted on Garcia's goal in the seventh minute. The only second half goal, tallied by Garcia, was off the assist from junior
Narhum Nivillac.
Junior Jose Domingo stays perfect protecting the goal, making six stops after 90 minutes of play. Brescia's keeper, Jacob Stanley, made five stops while allowing five goals in the complete game.
The team returns to action on Saturday when they host Cincinnati Christian University at 5 p.m.
