WILLIAMSBURG, Kentucky -- WVU Tech women's basketball dropped an 82-68 decision at University of the Cumberlands Thursday evening. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 1-1 while the Patriots move to 3-0.
Junior
Laura Requena finished with a double-double effort of 18 points and 12 rebounds to go with three assists, a block and a steal. Requena finished 6-for-8 from the free throw line.
Sophomore
Brittney Justice posted 16 points while pulling down eight rebounds. She also had three assists and was a perfect 4-for-4 at the bonus line.
Senior
Savannah Shamblin and junior
Logan Dudley also hit double-digits, recording 12 and ten points respectively. Dudley also finished with five rebounds while Shamblin dished four assists.
Sophomore
Whittney Justice came off the bench to give Tech seven points and a rebound, including a 5-for-6 showing from the free throw line.
The Gold and Blue shot 34.8 percent (24-for-69) from the field compared to the Patriots' 50.0 percent (34-for-68) effort. Cumberlands also held the advantage under the boards, 48-32.
Tech returns home to host Shawnee State University at 6 p.m., November 10 at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center.
