BECKLEY, West Virginia -- No. 13 WVU Tech men's basketball earned an 85-73 decision over No. 16 University of Saint Francis Tuesday evening in a Top 25 NAIA battle. The Golden Bears boost their record to 4-1 this season while the Cougars move to 3-3.
Three Golden Bears hit double-digits in scoring including a game-best 25 points from senior
Brandon Shingles. Shingles had a career-high seven made from three-point range.
Fellow senior
Elisha Boone followed with 24 points and was just one rebound shy of a double-double with nine boards. The Brooklyn, New York native also had five assists and three steals.
Senior
Tommy Collins poured in ten points to go with four rebounds, three steals and two assists.
Sophomore
Andreas Jönsson posted eight points in the win, also grabbing three boards. Freshman
Corey Hatfield had four defensive rebounds for the Gold and Blue.
Sophomore
Junior Arrey gave out the game-high seven assists while recording six points and two steals.
As a team, Tech finished 31-for-68 (45.6 percent) from the field while the Cougars went 28-for-65 (43.1 percent). Saint Francis held the advantage in rebounds, 40-37.
The Golden Bears will return to action Friday when they travel to Rio Grande, Ohio to face Washington Adventist University.
