CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio -- WVU Tech women's basketball opened its River States Conference (RSC) schedule with a 75-61 victory at Ohio Christian University Wednesday evening. The Golden Bears boost their record to 4-5, 1-0 (RSC) while the Trailblazers move to 1-7, 0-1 (RSC).
As a team, Tech finished 49.1 percent (28-for-57) from the field, 40.9 percent (9-for-22) and 66.7 percent (10-for-15) from the foul line. The Trailblazers were held to 38.9 percent (21-for-54) shooting from the field.
Sophomore
Brittney Justice led the game with a double-double effort of 22 points and 12 rebounds while grabbing three steals.
Senior
Alexandra Combs shot a perfect 6-for-6 from the bonus line towards 14 points to go with three steals and two rebounds.
Fellow senior
Savannah Shamblin finished with 13 points while giving out a game-best eight assists.
Junior
Carlie Biehl-Wilson poured in 11 points to round out Tech's top offensive contributors. Biehl-Wilson also pulled down ten rebounds for her third double-double this season.
Ohio Christian was led by Staci Dinsmore who posted 20 points and 11 rebounds.
The Gold and Blue will continue conference play Sunday when they host Indiana University East in Beckley, West Virginia.
