BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech women's basketball picked up its fifth victory in-a-row with an 86-59 showing over River States Conference (RSC) opponent Carlow University Tuesday evening. The Golden Bears move to 6-5, 2-0 this season while the Celtics fall to 3-7, 1-1 (RSC).
Senior
Alexandra Combs and junior
Laura Requena led all Tech scorers with 16 points each. Combs also posted six assists, four steals and two rebounds while Requena finished with seven rebounds, an assist and a steal.
Sophomore
Brittney Justice recorded 13 points, fellow sophomore
Whittney Justice had 12 points and senior
Savannah Shamblin had ten points to round out the Golden Bears' top offensive contributors.
Junior
Logan Dudley pulled down seven boards while pouring in eight points. Shamblin dished out a game-best seven assists while W. Justice had five rebounds.
The team finished 29-for-54 (53.7 percent) from the field while holding the Celtics to just 21-for-52 (40.4 percent) shooting. Tech forced 24 turnovers and grabbed 15 steals.
The Golden Bears will host a non-conference game on Thursday when University of the Virgin Islands travels to Beckley.
