Gold and Blue split series at Brewton-Parker, 2-2

MOUNT VERNON, Georgia -- WVU Tech baseball split a four-game series, 2-2, at Brewton-Parker College Friday-Saturday including a 6-4 victory after 12 innings in game two. The Golden Bears (3-9) also defeated the Barons (6-13) in the final game, 4-2. The losses dealt to Tech from Brewton-Parker ended in scores of 3-16 (G1) and 6-9 (G3).

Tech managed five hits in the loss including three from sophomore Jacob Reimold. Reimold launched a homerun towards three RBI and two runs scored.

Freshman Calen Owens and senior Wyatt Belinda marked a hit each while Belinda crossed the plate for a run scored.

On the bases, freshman Cole Walker had a steal.

Senior Jerod Jobst (0-2) drew the start on the bump, throwing four innings for the loss. Junior Jarrod Woodyard finished out the game, striking out one Baron.

Game Two | WVU Tech 6, Brewton-Parker 4 (12 Innings) | Box Score

Belinda led the way at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a triple, a RBI and a run scored.

Walker knocked a double, posting two RBI and a run scored while freshman Sean Crosby had two RBI, a hit and a run scored.

Freshman Bryton Dean also marked a RBI in the win.

The Golden Bears stole four bases as a team including two from sophomore Dariel Torres and one each from Reimold and Crosby.

Senior Dalton Grisell (1-2) earned the W on the mound after an inning of work, giving up just one hit and one earned run.

Freshman Calyb King pitched five innings, striking out seven batters while freshman Brett Linton struck out three and redshirt senior Garrison Vandeventer retired one via strikes.

Freshman Kent Rooklin led the team with two hits to go with one RBI.

Belinda, Reimold, Walker, Torres and sophomore Kurt Latocha batted a run in each.

On the bases, Rooklin, Reimold and freshman Alex Tennant each had a steal.

Sophomore Michael Rotenberry (0-1) suffered the loss after throwing two innings.

Redshirt junior Ryan Bayle and redshirt sophomore Trey Dalton both struck out a batter after pitching two innings each.

The team recorded four RBI in the victory including two from Belinda who rocked a dinger towards a 1-for-3 showing at the plate.

Sophomore Brian Schack and Torres both hit a double and marked a RBI.

Redshirt freshman Jacob Dingess was 2-for-3 at the plate towards two runs scored.

Junior Juan Perez (1-0) recorded the win after pitching two innings and striking out one.

Freshman Will Mullins threw for three innings, striking out two while junior Reed McNeer threw for two innings, marking one strike out.

Tech will return to the field March 2-3 for a four-game series at Indiana University Southeast.
