Softball drops doubleheader at University of Charleston

CHARLESTON, West Virginia -- WVU Tech softball dropped two non-conference contests at NCAA DII University of Charleston Tuesday. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 1-11 while the Golden Eagles move to 7-3.

Senior Kayla Harbin and junior Skylar Connelly had a double each. Senior MaKayla Waugh and freshman Olivia Morey both recorded two hits.

Connelly and sophomore Ashley Daniels had a RBI each while Waugh and freshman Alexis Lopez marked a run.

Sophomore Karina Atanacio (1-4) pitched a complete game in the loss, striking out one batter while giving up five earned runs.

Senior Hannah Calhoun's double was the Gold and Blue's lone hit in the night cap.

Sophomore Amanda McDonald (0-5) pitched four innings towards the loss, recording four strike outs. Atanacio retired two batters via strikes.

The team returns to action when they travel to Florida for the PFX Games to play nine games March 10-15.
