Softball drops two in North Carolina

MONTREAT, North Carolina -- WVU Tech softball fell to Mars Hill College 3-2 before dropping a contest to Montreat College 6-5 Sunday afternoon. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 1-9 this season.

The team tallied seven hits including two from senior Kayla Harbin.

Junior Skylar Connelly knocked a double, scored a run and stole a base. Junior Kacie Cahill also crossed the plate.

The RBI were credited to senior Hannah Calhoun and freshman Olivia Morey.

Sophomore Amanda McDonald (0-4) threw a complete game, striking out two while giving up two earned runs and four hits.

Game Two | Montreat 6, WVU Tech 5 | Box Score

Tech had eight hits towards their five runs including two each from Morey and Cahill. Morey recorded a triple while Connelly hit another double.

Connelly, Morey (2) and freshman Lauren Oxford drove runs in.

Sophomore Karina Atanacio (1-4) struck out five batters in the loss, giving up just one earned run. Sophomore Madeline Olson threw for an inning, striking out two while giving up two earned runs.

The Golden Bears return to action today, Tuesday as they face University of Charleston on the road.
