PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania -- The WVU Tech women's soccer squad dropped a 1-0 decision in overtime at Carlow University during River States Conference (RSC) play Thursday evening. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 4-3, 1-1 (RSC) while the Celtics move to 3-4, 3-0 (RSC).
As a team, the Gold and Blue posted 12 shots, five on goal including a team-best from sophomore
Meghan Rugel. Fellow sophomores
Miriam Cortez and
Patricia Fisher and freshman
Brittany Dye had one shot on frame each.
The Celtics took a total of six shots, two on goal in the overtime victory over Tech. The goal was scored by Kristina Wallace who found the back of the net after five minutes of overtime.
Freshman
Jenna Miller (3-3) stopped one Celtic attempted in the loss after 100 minutes of play. Carlow's Paige Schindehette was awarded the shutout win after a complete game, five saves and zero goals allowed.
Tech will continue RSC play in Pittsburgh when they face Point Park University this Saturday at 6 p.m.
