LEXINGTON, Kentucky -- No. 12 WVU Tech men's basketball took down Asbury University 97-84 in Memorial Coliseum Friday evening. The River States Conference (RSC) victory gives Tech a record of 17-3, 8-1 (RSC) while the Eagles move to 12-8, 6-4 (RSC).
Seniors
Elisha Boone and
Brandon Shingles poured in 19 points each. Boone finished with 14 rebounds for this 12
th double-double of the season and was 9-for-12 from the bonus line with four assists.
Shingles hit five from beyond the arc and had six rebounds and five assists.
Sophomore
Junior Arrey and senior
Tommy Collins also hit double-digits, recording 16 and 13 points respectively. Arrey pulled down seven boards and had three steals.
Sophomores
Tamon Scruggs and
Andreas Jönsson contributed with seven points each.
Tech held an edge on shooting from the field, 50.9 percent (29-for-57) compared ot the Eagles' 47.5 percent (28-for-59). The Golden Bears also had an advantage in rebounds, 38-27.
Up next, the team will travel to Midway, Kentucky tomorrow, Saturday to face the Eagles of Midway University.
