MIDWAY, Kentucky -- WVU Tech women's basketball is now enjoying a seven-game winning streak after defeating Midway University 82-73 in River States Conference (RSC) play Saturday afternoon. The Golden Bears are now 14-8, 9-1 (RSC) while the Eagles move to 9-9, 4-6 (RSC).
Junior
Laura Requena posted two career-highs to lead all scorers and rebounders with 28 points and 17 boards. The combo marks the Madrid, Spain's fifth double-double this season.
Sophomore
Brittney Justice also recorded her fifth double-double this year with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Senior
Savannah Shamblin marked a double-double with 11 points and ten assists.
Off the bench, sophomore
Whittney Justice had 12 points while fellow classmate
Alexandria Gray poured in ten points.
As a team, Tech finished 55.2 percent (32-for-58) from the field while holding the Eagles to 40.6 percent (26-for-64). They also held a huge advantage under the boards, 43-29.
The Golden Bears will continue their four-game road stand next Thursday when they travel to Cincinnati Christian University.
