KOKOMO, Indiana -- Five Golden Bears hitting double-digits in WVU Tech's ninth-straight win, 99-79 at Indiana University Kokomo (11-8, 7-3), has strengthened the team's lead in the River States Conference (RSC) East Division. With a record of 11-1 (RSC) and 16-8 overall, the Gold and Blue are No. 1 in the east conference standings while Indiana University East (8-4 RSC) is No. 2 at 3.0 games back.
Junior
Laura Requena posted her fifth consecutive double-double with 17 points and a game-best 11 rebounds. She also marked two steals and an assist.
Senior
Savannah Shamblin finished 7-for-8 from the foul line towards a team-high 19 points while marking four assists, two rebounds and two steals.
Sophomore
Brittney Justice was just one board away from a double-double of her own with 18 points and nine rebounds. B. Justice finished a perfect 5-for-5 from the bonus line while grabbing five steals.
Senior
Alexandra Combs poured in ten points while recording four rebounds and two assists.
Freshman
ShanEttine Butler also marked ten points to go with two steals.
Junior
Logan Dudley had eight points and two rebounds.
The team shot 50.0 percent (32-for-64) from the field while the Cougars finished at 46.3 percent (31-for-67). Tech also held the advantage under the boards, 40-33. The Golden Bears forced 21 IU Kokomo miscues and grabbed 12 steals.
The Gold and Blue will continue conference play Tuesday when they host Ohio Christian University at the
Summersville Convention & Visitors Bureau.
