BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech women's basketball have improved to 4-1 in River States Conference (RSC) play, 8-8 overall, after securing a 64-59 victory over Indiana University Southeast Thursday evening. The Grenadiers now hold a record of 8-6, 3-1 (RSC).
The Golden Bears and the game were led by sophomore
Brittney Justice who posted a double-double effort of 21 points and 11 rebounds. B. Justice also marked four blocks and three assists.
Junior
Laura Requena pulled down a game-best 15 rebounds and also posted a double-double with 12 points.
Senior
Savannah Shamblin was Tech's next leading scorer with nine points, also dishing a game-high six assists to go with four steals and six rebounds.
As a team, Tech finished 25-for-62 (40.3 percent) from the field while holding the Grenadiers to just 22-for-71 (31.0 percent) shooting. The Gold and Blue also held the advantage in rebounds, 51-39.
WVU Tech returns to action Saturday in the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center to continue conference play when they host Brescia University.
