MIDWAY, Kentucky -- WVU Tech volleyball took a 3-2 victory at Midway University in a River States Conference (RSC) battle Saturday. The Golden Bears boost their record to 15-8, 4-3 (RSC) while the Eagles move to 9-10, 2-5 (RSC). Tech earned the W with scores of 23-25, 25-21, 23-25, 26-24 and 15-4.
The Gold and Blue saw three Golden Bears hit double-digits in kills including seniors
Katelyn Byrd (13) and
Carolina Bologna (11) and junior
Ana Alonso Olea (11).
Senior
Emily Kidd and freshman
Brooklyn Cook put down seven kills while senior
Konstantina Pateli recorded six.
Pateli handled the ball, dishing out a match-high 43 assists while marking ten digs, three block assists and two service aces.
Junior libero
Sawyer Hawgood picked up the match-best of 27 digs while recording an assist and a kill.
Also in the back row, sophomore
Valentina Abondano posted 16 digs and two service aces. Byrd and junior
Michaella Guyot-Polverini recorded 12 digs each while Bologna had four service aces and Polverini and Byrd had one a piece.
The front row defense saw a block solo from Bologna while block assists were credited to Kidd (6), Olea (3), Bologna (2), Byrd (2) and Polverini (1).
Tech will stay on the road for more conference action when they travel to Brescia University Friday, October 18.
