BECKLEY, West Virginia -- Women's soccer of WVU Tech fell to River States Conference (RSC) opponent University of Rio Grande 3-2 Thursday evening in Beckley. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 5-5, 4-2 (RSC) while the RedStorm move to 3-11, 3-3 (RSC).
Both of Tech's goals came in the first half including a score from senior
Miriam Cortez in the fifth minute.
The Gold and Blue's final goal came from sophomore
Brittany Dye (15'). Dye was also credited the assist to Cortez off a free kick.
In goal, sophomore
Jenna Miller (5-5) made seven saves in 90 minutes of play. Rio's keeper, Jayla Brown, was forced to stop 14 Golden Bear attempts.
The RedStorm's goals were recorded by Payten Davis (28'), Katie Zuniga (57') and Trinity Hassey (60').
Tech will return to action when they host Point Park University in more conference play Thursday, October 24.
