Women's Soccer

BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech women's soccer posted a 3-1 victory over River States Conference (RSC) opponent Point Park University Thursday evening. The Golden Bears boost their record to 6-5, 4-2 (RSC) while the Pioneers fall to 4-10-1, 2-4-1 (RSC).

Tech is just 0.5 games back from the top teams, Ohio Christian (5-1-1) and Indiana University East (5-1-1), in the conference standings.

Junior Yasmin Del Valle scored first and quick for the Gold and Blue, finding the back of the net in the seventh minute off the assist of sophomore Brittany Dye.

Del Valle then got the perfect pass from freshman Sydney Krakat for her second score of the contest (16').

Krakat was credited with Tech's final goal of the game, posting the score off an assist from junior Domenica Moncayo. Krakat now has five collegiate goals and is currently the team's leading scorer.

Sophomore Jenna Miller (6-5) protected the net for 90 minutes, allowing just one goal. The Pioneers' keeper, Ashtyn Webb, was forced to stop 16 Golden Bear attempts on frame while allowing three goals.

Tech will return to play Saturday when they host Carlow University in more conference action.
