BECKLEY, West Virginia -- In a River States Conference (RSC) semifinal between No. 1-seeded WVU Tech and No. 4 Brescia University, the teams remained scoreless until a made penalty kick from senior
Alvaro Tina with just four minutes to play in regulation.
Tina was given the opportunity to put the Golden Bears on the board after a foul on the Bearcats in the box. The Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain native converted on the penalty kick for his third goal in 2019 and fourth career goal.
Tech finished the 90 minutes with 17 shots on frame while holding the Bearcats to just two looks at the net. The Golden Bears also held the advantage in corner kicks, 15-0.

Jorge Martinez (17-0-1) protected the goal for the Gold and Blue, stopping two attempts. Brescia's keeper, Ruben Burgos Rubio, posted 13 saves in the complete game.
The Golden Bears will host No. 2 Rio Grande (15-3) Saturday at 3 p.m. for the RSC Championship. The RedStorm advanced to the final after defeating No. 3 Indiana University East 3-0.
During the regular season, Tech earned a 1-0 double overtime decision over Rio Grande.
