PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania -- The 2019 WVU Tech women's cross country squad made program history Saturday, recording its best time as a team ever and finishing as runners-up in the River States Conference (RSC) Championship. The Golden Bears finished with a combined time of 1:44.49 and were just behind the champions, Point Park University, who had a time of 1:41.54.
Runners who finished 8-14 were named to the All-RSC second team which included the Golden Bear's top finisher freshman
Carmen Camino Falcon (8
th, 20:33.7).
Also named to the All-RSC second team were junior
Kaeley Boyd (9
th, 20:43.7), freshman
Michaela O'Dell (12
th, 21:05.8) and junior
Jaelynn Parks (13
th, 21:05.9).
Sophomore
Kara Sandusky rounded out Tech's top five, crossing 16
th with a time of 21:20.3.
Tech was also represented by freshman
Danielle Roberts (21:51.4), sophomores
Annmarie Gruttadauro (23:15.5) and
Alisa Kuchmak (24:51.5), freshmen
Taylor Sexton (24:55.7) and
Alexis Zilinski (26:24.3).
The RSC Men's Cross Country Champions of Character Team was named with one individual nominated by each coach who is the one on their team who best exhibits the five values of NAIA Champions of Character: Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Servant Leadership and Sportsmanship. Tech's representative is Boyd who hails from Alderson, West Virginia.
