RICHMOND, Indiana -- (RV) WVU Tech women's basketball saw six Golden Bears hit double digits in River States Conference (RSC) play as they defeated Indiana University East 106-80 Saturday afternoon. Tech is undefeated in RSC action 3-0 and boosts its overall record to 8-6.
As a team, the Gold and Blue finished 40-for-67 (59.7 percent) from the floor, 12-for-23 (52.2 percent) from three-point range and 14-for-19 (73.7 percent) from the bonus stripe.
Junior
Alexandria Gray was 4-for-5 from beyond the arc towards a team-best 19 points to go with six rebounds and a steal.
Sophomore
ShanEttine Butler came off the bench to pour in 18 points on 7-for-10 shooting.
Junior
Whittney Justice finished with 16 points, six assists, five rebounds, two steals and a block.
Senior
Laura Requena posted a double-double of 12 points and ten rebounds while recording two steals and an assist.
Junior
Kathylee Pinnock Branford also recorded a double-double, marking a game-high 12 assists to go with 11 points and six rebounds.
Junior
Brittney Justice rounded out the top offensive contributors with ten points while marking five assists, a rebound, a block and an assist.
Tech's defense held the Red Wolves to just 18.5 percent (5-for-27) shooting from three-point range and 42.9 percent (33-for-77) from the field.
The Golden Bears also held the advantage in rebounds (41-34), points off turnovers (18-12), bench points (38-17), points in the paint (46-36) and fast break points (29-6).
WVU Tech will return to the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center for its next contest, hosting Point Park University Saturday, December 14.
