Elisha Boone recorded his 1,000
th career point as a Golden Bear and No. 9 WVU Tech defeated Bluefield State College, 103-71, Wednesday evening for their fifth win in-a-row. The Golden Bears boost their record to 24-4 while the Blues move to 8-16.
Boone poured in 17 points and pulled down nine boards. A Brooklyn, New York native, Boone also had three assists and two steals.
Sophomore
Tamon Scruggs marked 15 points on 6-for-7 shooting while posting four rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Senior
Brandon Shingles finished 4-for-6 from three-point range towards 14 points. Shingles also had three assists and a rebound.
Fellow classmate
Tommy Collins had 12 points and seven rebounds for the Gold and Blue. He also marked two assists and two steals.
Senior
Cole Schoolcraft and sophomore
Junior Arrey dished out five assists each.
Arrey had nine rebounds, six points and two steals while Schoolcraft finished with four rebounds, two points and two steals.
The team shot 38-for-76 (50 percent) from the field while holding Bluefield State to a 29-for-69 (42 percent) effort. Tech also outrebounded their opponent, 48-36.
The Golden Bears will host Appalachian Bible College tomorrow, Thursday at 7 p.m. for more non-conference action.
