BECKLEY, West Virginia -- After 13 consecutive victories, (RV) WVU Tech women's basketball dropped a battle to Bluefield State College, 73-72. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 20-9 while the Blues boost their record to 9-16.
Tech was led by junior
Laura Requena who marked another double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds. Requena also had three assists and a block.
Sophomore
Brittney Justice poured in 16 points to go with four rebounds and a steal.
Senior
Alexandra Combs finished with three made from beyond the arc toward 14 points. She also posted six assists and three steals.
Fellow classmate
Savannah Shamblin had 11 points, seven assists, a rebound and a steal.
The Gold and Blue were held to just 39.7 percent (27-for-68) shooting from the field while the Blues finished at 51.9 percent (27-for-52). Tech did have the advantage under the boards, 43-30.
The team will return to conference play Saturday when they celebrate Senior Day and host University of Rio Grande.
