BECKLEY, West Virginia -- No. 1 (East) WVU Tech men's basketball earned a 94-76 victory over No. 2 (West) Asbury University during a semifinal of the River States Conference (RSC) Championship Saturday. Head Coach
Bob Williams was celebrated in front of the home crowd, he earned his 400
th career-win on February 20 when the Golden Bears defeated Brescia University.
For the final of the championship, the Golden Bears (28-4) will host No. 1 (West) Indiana University Kokomo (25-6) Tuesday, February 26. IU Kokomo defeated Indiana University East 97-94 to advance to the finals. When the teams met during the regular season, the Gold and Blue fell on the road to IU Kokomo, 82-89 January 26.
Senior
Elisha Boone led the Gold and Blue with a triple-double effort of 21 points, 17 rebounds and 13 assists.
Sophomore
Tamon Scruggs posted 16 points while grabbing three boards and a steal.
Senior
Tommy Collins poured in 15 points to go with three assists and three rebounds.
Fellow senior
Brandon Shingles hit three from beyond the arc and finished with 13 points. Shingles also had four rebounds and an assist.
Senior
Cole Schoolcraft was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field including 3-for-3 from three-point range towards 11 points. Schoolcraft also recorded two rebounds and an assist.
Junior
Dominik King earned the start, marking eight points, four rebounds and two assists.
Tipoff for the final is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center. Fans are encouraged to wear gold gear for the GOLD RUSH.
