CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio -- WVU Tech softball went 3-1 in River States Conference (RSC) play this past weekend, defeating Ohio Christian University with scores of 11-0 and 11-1 before traveling to Cincinnati Christian University for scores of 3-1 and 2-7.
SERIES ONE | WVU TECH AT OHIO CHRISTIAN
In the series against the Trailblazers,
Kayte Blandford led the way at the plate, finishing 6-for-8 towards four RBI and two runs scored.
Kacie Cahill,
Ciara Jimenez and
Jacey Bertalan tallied four hits each. Cahill had four runs scored, two RBI, a double and a home run.
Jimenez marked two runs scored and a double while Bertalan had three runs scored and two doubles.
Karina Atanacio was awarded the win in game one, throwing the complete game and striking out four batters.
Amanda McDonald threw for 3.0 innings for the W in the circle in game two.
Taylor Dickerson pitched for 2.0 innings, striking out one Trailblazer.
SERIES TWO | WVU TECH AT CINCINNATI CHRISTIAN
Jimenez finished 4-for-8 at the dish, posting three doubles, two RBI and a run scored.
Bertalan tallied three hits, three runs scored, two RBI, a home run and a double.
Lauren Oxford and
Kelsey Moore also had a multi-hit series, marking two hits each.
Atanacio was awarded the lone win the circle, pitching 10.0 innings and striking out seven batters.
Dickerson (4.0 innings) had three strike outs, McDonald (1.1 innings) struck out two batters and
Madeline Olson (0.2 innings) retired one batter via strikes.
Up next, Tech will host University of Charleston in non-conference doubleheader action tomorrow, Tuesday beginning at 3 p.m.
