BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech softball earned a non-conference doubleheader sweep over Piedmont International University Wednesday afternoon. The shutout victories (16-0 and 8-0) boost the Golden Bears' record to 19-27 while the Bruins move to 8-18.
Tech celebrated its seniors between games,
Sarah Dohn,
Skylar Connelly,
Kacie Cahill and
Lauren Oxford.
Junior
Kayte Blandford led the Gold and Blue at the plate with a 4-for-5 effort towards four RBI, two runs scored and a double.
Dohn, Oxford and freshman
Kennedy Batchelor had three hits each.
Dohn finished with three RBI and three runs scored and Oxford posted a double, three RBI and three runs scored.
Batchelor knocked an inside-the-park grand slam to go towards five RBI and three runs scored. She also marked a triple.
Sophomore
Alexis Lopez also posted an inside-the-park dinger, recording four RBI and three runs scored.
Cahill had two doubles and three runs scored while Connelly had two hits, one RBI and three runs scored.
The game one victory in the circle went to junior
Karina Atanacio who pitched a complete game and struck out six batters.
Freshman
Taylor Dickerson threw a complete game for the W in game two, striking out seven Bruins.
