SUMMERSVILLE, West Virginia -- (RV) WVU Tech women's basketball hosted River States Conference (RSC) opponent Midway University in Summersville Thursday evening and earned a 99-86 overtime victory for their tenth consecutive win.
The Golden Bears boost their record to 16-6 overall and a flawless 9-0 in RSC action while the Eagles move to 15-4, 5-3 (RSC).
Junior
Alexandria Gray led the Gold and Blue with a career-high 27 points including three three-pointers and an 8-for-11 effort from the foul line. The Charleston, West Virginia native also posted four rebounds, four steals and an assist.
Fellow junior
Brittney Justice poured in 26 points with a perfect 15-for-15 showing from the bonus stripe. B. Justice finished with eight rebounds.
Junior
Kathylee Pinnock Branford recorded 11 points to go with four assists, two steals and two boards.
Sophomore
Eugenia Marcelli had a career-high ten points and just missed a double-double with a career-best eight rebounds. Marcelli, who hails from Rome, Italy also had a game-best two blocks.
Senior
Laura Requena marked seven points, five rebounds, an assist and a block.
Junior
Whittney Justice dished a game-high seven assists and had four points.
Tech won the battle under the boards, 46-37 (rebounds) while forcing 20 Midway turnovers. Midway finished 44.6 percent shooting from the floor and the Golden Bears shot 42.0 percent.
The team will return to the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center Saturday to host Asbury University in more conference play.
