BECKLEY, West Virginia -- No. 2 (East) WVU Tech volleyball fell 3-0 to No. 3 (West) Indiana University Southeast in a River States Conference (RSC) Championship quarterfinal Saturday with scores of 25-23, 26-24 and 25-18.
Sophomore
Brooklyn Cook led Tech's attack with 11 kills to go with 13 digs, two service aces, an assist and a block solo.
Junior
Ariana Gentzler put down seven kills to go with two block solos while fellow classmate
Coralys Maldonado Rivera posted six kills and two block solos.
Seniors
Katelyn Byrd and
Ana Alonso Olea had five kills each. Byrd also had 15 digs, a block solo, a block assist and an assist while Olea had five digs.
Senior
Lucie Strasser and freshman
Julia McClanahan handled the ball, dishing 18 and 11 assists respectively. Strasser finished with four digs, a block solo and a kill and McClanahan marked two digs and a kill.
Freshman libero
Ana Muñiz Rocandio picked up a team-best 19 digs to go with two assists and a service ace.
The Golden Bears end their 2020 campaign with a record of 7-5 while the Grenadiers move onto a semifinal with a record of 10-6.
