BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech volleyball now has four consecutive wins after defeating Brescia University Saturday afternoon in Beckley. With scores of 25-18, 25-21 and 25-16, the Golden Bears advance their record to 7-4, 7-4 (RSC) while the Bearcats move to 4-7, 4-7 (RSC).
Senior
Ana Alonso Olea helped lead the attack, finishing with eight kills while fellow classmate
Katelyn Byrd and junior
Ariana Gentzler had seven each. Sophomore
Brooklyn Cook put down five kills while senior
Lucie Strasser recorded four.
Freshman
Julia McClanahan and Strasser handled the ball, dishing out 13 and 14 assists respectively. Strasser also had eight digs while McClanahan picked up five.
The back row defense was led by libero freshman Ana Muniz Rocandio who posted 13 digs. Byrd marked eight digs for the Gold and Blue.
Junior
Coralys Maldonado Rivera had a big day at the net, putting down three block solos and a block assist to go with two kills.
Next up for the Golden Bears is the River States Conference Championship with a first round game scheduled for November 14.
