WILLIAMSBURG, Kentucky -- WVU Tech men's basketball dropped a 77-69 decision in a back-and-forth battle at No. 15 University of the Cumberlands Saturday evening. The Golden Bears are now 3-3 in 2020 while the Patriots move to 7-1.
Sophomore
Darrin Martin led the Gold and Blue with 25 points towards a double-double with ten boards. He was very efficient at the foul line, 6-for-7, and dished four assists.
Fellow classmate
Andrew Work came off the bench to produce a career-high of 22 points to go with eight rebounds.
Freshman
Thomas Hailey and sophomore
Ashton Parker both finished with eight points, five rebounds and two blocks each.
As a team, Tech shot 51.0 percent (26-for-51) from the field while Cumberlands shot 45.8 percent (27-for-59). The Golden Bears also had the edge under the boards, grabbing 33 rebounds compared to the Patriots' 25.
WVU Tech will return to the court January 5 when they host University of Rio Grande in River States Conference action.
