Men's Basketball

RIO GRANDE, Ohio --  No. 20 WVU Tech men's basketball ends the regular conference season with a River States Conference (RSC) record of 15-1, overall record of 21-7, ten straight wins and the RSC regular-season title after defeating University of Rio Grande 76-67 Saturday.

Darrin Martin came off the bench to pour in a career-high 20 points to go with three rebounds and two assists.

Tamon Scruggs was 6-for-9 from the field towards 15 points while pulling down a team-high eight rebounds.

Juvante' Hayes finished with 15 points, five rebounds and two steals.

Andreas Jönsson rounded out the top offensive contributors with nine points.

As a team, Tech finished 26-for-51 (51.0 percent) from the field while the RedStorm shot 25-for-51 (49.0 percent). The Gold and Blue forced 12 turnovers and grabbed six steals.

WVU Tech is No. 1 in the RSC East and will host No. 4 in the RSC West for a quarterfinal of the RSC Championship Wednesday, February 26 in the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center.

Before that, Tech will travel down the road to face Appalachian Bible College Monday, February 24.
