LAURINBURG, North Carolina -- WVU Tech baseball picked up its first then second win in 2020 with a doubleheader sweep at St. Andrews University Sunday afternoon. The Golden Bears defeated the Knights 7-5 followed by a 4-3 victory.
Tech now holds a record of 2-4 in 2020 while St. Andrews moves to 4-3.
Senior
Corey Lewis led the way at the plate for the Gold and Blue, totaling four RBI including a homer.
Junior
Kent Rooklin finished with two RBI while seniors
Douglas Pollock and
Kurt Latocha had one each.
Sophomore
Logan Stump was awarded the win on the mound in game one, striking out nine batters in six innings.
Fellow classmate
Logan McClure threw for 3.0 innings toward the W in game two. McClure finished with two strike outs while giving up just one earned run.
In Sunday's final game, sophomore
Yordan Maldonado posted the save after 2.0 innings of action.
The team returns to the field Friday, February 14 when they face Montreat College.
