MIDWAY, Kentucky -- The Golden Bear women's basketball squad pulled out a 75-67 victory at Midway University Tuesday evening after a big fourth quarter and a back-and-forth battle. WVU Tech is now .500 this season at 5-5 while the Eagles move to 8-6.
The Gold and Blue were down 52-50 headed into the final ten minutes of the contest after Midway outscored Tech 22-14 in the third quarter. But, the Golden Bears answered back in the fourth with a 25-15 scoring effort over the Eagles.
WVU Tech dominated under the boards with 50 rebounds compared to Midway's 30. The Golden Bears also forced 16 turnovers and grabbed seven steals.
Senior
Whittney Justice led all scorers with a 9-for-13 effort, including three made from beyond the arc, towards 24 points. She also posted three assists, two steals and a rebound.
Both senior
Brittney Justice (11 rebounds, 10 points) and sophomore
Brianna Ball (14 rebounds, 10 points) finished with a double-double for the Gold and Blue.
Senior
Alexandria Gray was just one board short of the double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds to go with three assists.
Junior
Eugenia Marcelli also made a difference grabbing rebounds, pulling down four while recording five points.
Tech is scheduled to continue road play when they travel to University of Rio Grande Tuesday, February 2 for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
