CUMBERLANDS, Kentucky -- WVU Tech women's basketball dropped a close decision at University of the Cumberlands Saturday 73-71. The Golden Bears now hold an overall record of 4-9 while the Patriots move to 8-4.
Tech staged a comeback in the second half, outscoring the Patriots 41-29 but the Cumberlands' first half of play gave them the edge in a NAIA battle.
Brittney Justice posted a game-high 23 points to go with five rebounds and three assists.
Elle Baker pulled down a team-best seven boards to go with 12 points and six blocks. Baker, who hails from Phoenix, Arizona, is now ranked No. 17 in the nation (NAIA) with 2.3 blocks per game.
Whittney Justice finished with 15 points and six rebounds while
Alanis Hill had 11 points, four rebounds and four assists to round out Tech's double-digit scorers.
Alyssa Taylor had six points and three rebounds while
Leonor Ferreira marked five rebounds and two points.
The Golden Bears will continue non-conference action when they travel to Bluefield College Monday, December 13.
