BECKLEY, West Virginia -- In WVU Tech women's basketball highest scoring contest since 2014 (115 points vs. Virginia Lynchburg), the Golden Bears defeated Potomac State College 112-34 Friday evening. Tech now holds a record of 9-8 while the Catamounts start their season out 0-1.
The Gold and Blue saw career-bests from six players and four double-doubles on senior night. Prior to the contest, Tech celebrated seniors
Alexandria Gray,
Kathylee Pinnock Branford and
Isabel Barrio.
Branford led all scorers with 20 points to go with 11 rebounds, eight assists, two steals and two blocks -- the 11 boards were a career-high for the San Jose, Costa Rica native.
Barrio, who hails from Cobena, Spain, produced career-bests of 18 points and eight rebounds to go with eight assists.
Gray, a senior from Charleston, West Virginia, pulled down a career-high 13 boards while recording 12 points and four assists.
Senior
Brittney Justice had a double-double effort of ten points and a career-best ten steals.
Freshman
Emilee Whitt had a standout game, finishing with three career-highs including 19 points, five assists and four steals to go with four rebounds.
Sophomore
Brianna Ball dished her career-best four assists to go with 14 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks.
Up next is the River States Conference Championship where Tech will travel to Carlow University Monday for a quarterfinal match-up.
